NASA Field Trip

Our field trip on Friday was so much fun! We got to experience so many awesome things and really learned about what it takes to be an astronaut... we might even have a few in the making in our class!  We even got to meet Astronaut Ellen Ochoa who we read a biography about! (Just like meeting a real rockstar!) Enjoy some pictures from the day!

A special thanks to all the parents who helped out during the day! We couldn't have done it without you!

All About Shapes

This past week we practiced our shapes and patterns until we were experts! We made pictures, created patterns, and explored lots of fun activities with pattern blocks.
We also practiced sorting complete and incomplete sentences,
and wrote about the story elements in our weekly reading story! They did such a great job!
Carter brought a book to share with the class; he did a wonderful job being teacher for the day and everyone listened intently! :)
And finally, we had ALL THREE science fair winners selected from our class! Congratulations to Hannah, Jonathan, and Vera! Awesome job!!!

Happy Easter!

Before our nice Easter weekend, we got down to business learning our /or/ sounds with lots of Easter and "s'mORe" activities! We played a "More S'mores" reading game,

tried our best to make new words,

and practiced subtraction, telling time, and place value with Easter egg themed games!

(and got a little silly along the way!)

To finish our /or/ study, we wrote about how to make s'mores. delicious descriptions, and finally enjoyed some yummy s'mores!!

Ooey gooey goodness!

We also made Easter Cross Art which turned out so beautifully!

Pirate Week!

This week we enjoyed tons of fun pirate themed activities as we studied AR (Aaarrgghhh!) words.  First, we learned a new game called Pirate Squeeze to practice greater than/less than and number recognition.

We also sequenced the story "Pirate Mark,"

played the literacy game "A Pirate's Life For Me!" and created our Pirate Art!

During Math we practiced our hundreds, tens, and ones place value with a big bean number count. (And learned the order of the planets with out solar system hats!)

Lastly, we had an AR word treasure hunt! After the rules were explained, they were off to find hidden words around the classroom and add them to our AR treasure map.

Pirate Week was so much fun! AARRRGGHHH!
